WHO AM I? As a member of the Hazara Ethnic group my family has been subject to systematic ethnic cleansing in Afghanistan. From the age of 6 our family has been running from the Taliban. Since that time my family has all been killed, and I alone remain here. WHERE AM I NOW?
Through great personal loss and turmoil, I was able to successfully escape to Indonesian. I have been here for the last 10 years which I am so thankful for every day that I am alive and no longer being hunted, but Indonesia has it’s downfalls.
As a refugee in Indonesia I am not allowed to seek employent or education. Getting medical care is difficult and earning money is impossible with the government laws.
Thus far I have survived in Indonesia by the donations & generosity of people around me. This is difficult for my physical & mental health. I spend each day helping my neighbors, reading my scriptures & studying English.
I NEED YOUR HELP!
My hope is to leave Indonesia and immigrate to Canada as soon as possible. I have been fortunate enough to be chosen by a Canadian family who has agreed to sponsor me and pay for my lawyer fees and flights to Canada as well as provide a home to live in for the first 6 months I am there.
In order to be allowed to immigrate to Canada I must meet certain requirements to qualify. Under Canada’s Immigration laws there is something called the Privately Sponsored Refugee Program. This allows 5 private Canadian citizens to form a group to sponsor refugees to be settled in their local city or town. In order to fulfill the sponsorship requirements there has be enough money to support me for one year in Canada. The last thing that I need going forward is to secure the funding. The applicant must have a bank account in their name with enough money to survive the first year. The minimum set by Canadian immigration is $18,5000 CAD or $13530.81 USD. With the average wage in Indonesia being less than $1USD/hour, and the Indonesian government forbidding Refugees to work, there is no possible way for me to change my situation. I am at mercy of generous humans like you. With all my heart, I ask you to prayerfully consider contributing to my cause so that I can be resettled in Calgary, Canada as soon as possible. This one thing would change everything in my life.
